Wolfpack Football Week 5: Louisville comes to town
Written by C. Sherwood and filed under Sports
After being absolutely manhandled by the Clemson Tigers last Saturday, there is no relief this week as the Louisville Cardinals come to Raleigh. Louisville boasts one of (if not the most) potent offenses in the nation, led by Heisman Trophy candidate and sure-fire first round draft pick Brian Brohm. Last week Brohm lit up Syracuse for over 550 yards passing and 5 touchdowns, although it wasn’t enough for a win.
As daunting as the Louisville offense is, there may be some hope for the Wolfpack. The Cardinal defense has been terrible in recent weeks, especially the last, giving up 38 points in a loss to a really bad Syracuse team. A game in which Louisville was a 36 point favorite. The Pack has struggled offensively all season, and this weeks opponent may be just what the doctor ordered to give the offense a jump start. Harrison Beck will be back in the lineup at quarterback and will have an opportunity to make some plays down the field. NC State should be able to score some points this week, but the question is - can they score more than Louisville?
I think we will see Harrison Beck have his best game in an NC State uniform this weekend, but I don’t think the Pack has enough firepower to stay with the Cardinals - my best guess is Lousiville 38, NC State 24.
As hard as it may be sometimes, patience is imperative as Tom O’Brien works to build a new Wolfpack football program. It has been, and may very well continue to be a long and sometimes painful season to watch, but have faith in a proven coach and give him and his staff the time required to “right the ship”
If you can’t make it to Carter Finley on Saturday, look for the game on ESPN-U at 3:30.

NCAA single game passing record by Brian Brohm. Louisville over the Wolfpack 52-13.
No way. I don’t know if the Wolfpack will have what it takes to pull this one out, but I’m confident it won’t be as bad as you’ve predicted. If the Wolfpack lose by even 30, I’ll change the name of the site to “Louisville Free Press” until the FSU game the following week.
Oddsmakers have Louisville by 9…
