NC State vs. Florida State

WolfpackThe Pack travel to Tallahassee this weekend to take on the Florida State Seminoles and an old friend in Chuck Amato. Amato spent over 20 years on the Seminole coaching staff before taking over the Wolfpack, and he immediately returned this offseason after being relieved of his duties. I’ve said all along I truly believe that Amato was the primary reason for the renewed passion in NC State football as well as the front man for a $100 million dollar fundraising campaign to make Carter Finley what it is today. I doubt there is much ill will from many Wolfpack fans, as overall the Amato era was a positive one. Chuck is now back in his familiar role as Bobby Bowden’s right-hand man while coaching up the linebackers. I for one am glad to see that he was welcomed back to Florida State.

The game itself is taking a backseat to the Amato story. The Pack are just not good. The Seminoles are no longer the elite Top 5 program they once were and certainly are beatable, but not by this Wolfpack team. The Pack can’t stop anyone, through the air or on the ground, and generally look lost on offense. The Pack offensive line has no consistency, so while there are talented playmakers at running back and wide receiver, there is no time to get them the ball or create a running lane. I don’t see much changing this week, while on the road and in a hostile environment. My prediction: another frustrating game to watch, FSU 24, NCSU 7.

The game will be televised by ABC at 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon.

The Pack is an 18 point underdog; appropriately so.
